I eat strawberries and drink champagne while watching the Oscars, then double post about it.

In order to do this correctly you would have to increase the penalty for fumbles as well. They are just as destructive as an INT.

Secondly, this is currently a touchdown driven league and in the examples you provided, the offending player had more touchdowns each time than the player without/less interceptions. The players without interceptions by all means had pedestrian days (in today's NFL). 2 TD's is not a stellar performance anymore.

In the case of Fitzpatrick and Brady, Fitzpatrick had similar points in yards with Brady with a slight edge. Fitzpatrick had a whole TD's worth of interception penalties but managed an additional scoring touchdown, which is why they had similar scores. The importance of his third TD was big in this comparison.

The Vick situation was unique, because he had additional points for rushing yards and since rushing yards accrue points faster than passing, Vick maintained a slight edge. Vick also threw for 50 more yards (2 points worth) and had an additional TD.

The point of showing these breakdowns in points scored is to show that all 4 of these performances were not spectacular, but were actually equal in their own ways. Although Schaub and Brady made less mistakes, they were also less productive. Vick and Fitzpatrick were more productive but also made more mistakes. In my mind, this equals out.

I'm not saying we shouldn't explore a new point structure. I'm just putting the counterpoint out there.
