This is a "what if" scenario. What if the NFL locks out in 2011? What about fantasy? What about gambling? Why don't we try to anticipate this and take advantage. We either set up a website devoted to taking bets on the proceedings. Example: will Roger Goodell make a statement within 24 hours after Demaurice Smith says even the 2012 season is in question...NFL Strike Bets, This is now!
Another aspect of this is fantasy. No NFL Season = No Fantasy Football...could we set up a site where participants select teams/players from a certain decade and we would then play an unknown fantasy season. On Saturday night we would say, ok we have picked week 10 of the '58 season. Take the qb, rb, 2 wr, te, d, k vs. the other guy. We could call it "Fantasy Football Classic" Or "Fantasy Football Rewind" or "The Fanzier (Seinfeld Reference)" It will be a great way for fans to learn about football's past while sticking it up the asses of the real footballs present (we don't need you to be entertained). I bet if we got enough participants we would get some online attention with stories saying "With no NFL this year, online game has reminded fans of the sports roots" or some shit like that...a lot of things have to happen for this to work, but we could at least be a one year wonder...

Sorry Pryor, I like the first idea much better. This one just has too many downfalls. (If I understand correctly, and that's always a big if) For example if you have a fantasy football rewind, what would keep someone from googling that particular week and or season and picking the best performers.

To answer your question Josh I think my way of thinking was that a player would pick a team from the 50's for the season. Example: The Browns: Then on Saturday, we would pick week 10 of the '58 Season and his starters would be from the '58 Browns. You would pick teams at the beginning of the Season from each decade from like the 40's to today...or we could even pick players from decades, like Montana from the 80's and you would just hope he played well the week we pick. You would also pick backups in case that guy was hurt. It seems easy to pick the 49ers of the 80's or Steelers of the 70's, but those teams didn't dominate every week and even had down seasons. The Steelers of the 70's probably weren't as good a fantasy team as the Oilers, Cowboys, or Chargers...
I know there are a lot of holes in this, but I figured i'd try to answer your question 13 months later.
