This is the short list I've come up with so far with some visual aids thrown in.

The best of all Time (IMHO)- Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Watch it through 2:28 minutes in (thats what I consider the opening scene) The 20th century fanfare will never again be heard without thinking of these movies...The "A Long Time Ago..." line is classic and from that opening note of Williams' score you know you're in for something special. I've read stories about people who where just blown away by this in the theaters in '77. My dad included. This, the Godfather, and Fritz the cat (google it...it's a trip) are the only movies he ever reminisces about his actual theater experience with. Specifically talking about the opening scene in Star Wars.

This is a work in progress...Random movie #2 coming soon.

Next up- I specifically mentioned this scene in my "Top Ten Comic Book Movies" topic in my "Non-Fantasy Football" thread on the ff website (2009 now active). That thread was pretty much a mini version of this site. I have always been a visionary. But i digress. I love movies that (FUCK! PHILLY JUST SCORED) feature the secret service and this scene shows them basically not know what the hell is going on. I love watching the protocol and such. I also like the fight scenes and the way Brian Singer (FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! what the hell is this? Anyone want to hang out and watch game 7 on Monday, looks like Sopranos night is out) shot them mixing slow motion with fast paced action. As a viewer you can follow the scene even though one character is basically bouncing all over the place. With some movies the camera and "action" moves so fast you can't even follow it. (I'm looking at you Borne Supremacy). Rewatching this clip to post for this thread had me in goosebumps the whole time...enjoy.

Yeah, that X2 scene is pretty well executed. You can see where doing a scene like that it could easily look cheesy.
